Finally, affordable brushless power for the people! Castle’s Sidewinder brushless ESC series slashes the brushless price barrier while it blasts across the track in all 1/10th-scale applications. Sidewinder is a great first high-performance package - it will provide more power and grins than most guys (and cars) can handle!
Castle’s engineers have achieved breakthroughs in circuit-board thermal design and have combined those advances with cutting- edge electronic components to bring unmatched power and reliability to sport 1/10th-scale vehicle drivers. Brushless power and reliability have never been available at these price levels!
The Sidewinder 1/10th scale ESC is intended for use with the Castle 4600 KV motor up to 3S (12 Cell NiMH) and the long time favorite Castle 5700 with 2S Lipo (8 cell NiMH) Max.
Castle’s incredible CM-36 4600 kV and 5700 kV motors are made to exacting specifications and offer some of the best electromagnetic efficiencies of any motors on the RC market. Castle motors run cool for a given power level – that means you can run them at higher power levels without worrying about thermal damage. Top-quality Neodymium magnets, carefully designed windings and high-RPM bearings deliver an incredible punch.
Why Two Motor Choices?
Sidewinder is available with our 4600 kV* and our 5700 kV* motors. Drivers can mix and match gearing and the number of cells that they are using to create a power system that can be mild or a raging wild thing with either motor. Both motors will make the cars go insanely fast - the 4600 will generally result in a more driveable car with finesse on throttle, while the 5700 is more like a big-block 60’s muscle car.
*The term kV refers to the number of RPMs that the motors will try to deliver per volt applied.
Does Sidewinder replace Mamba Max?
No, the Sidewinder series is designed for sport customers. Hard core racers will still demand Mamba Max power, just like the national champion drivers do. Sidewinder is an exciting entry point for high performance brushless offering approximately 2/3rds of the extreme power available with Castle’s Mamba systems.
