Monogram 1/24 '70 Plymouth Road Runner
As the muscle car craze hit its stride in the late 1960s, there was a need for a more inexpensive model. The Road Runner had all of the muscle, but none of the fancy extras. This was just what buyers were looking for. It was packed with a big 440 Six Barrel engine good for 390 horsepower and 490 lbs. of torque. The advertising campaign slogan for 1970 was Plymouth’s “Rapid Transit System”. The Road Runner fit right in with its whimsical graphics and eye catching colors. The mighty 440 Six Barrel engine punched out 390 horsepower and a whopping 490 lbs. of torque. It could cut the quarter mile in the mid 13 second range at over 102 mph. The no frills Road Runner was extremely popular with the younger car buyer.
