HP Heli's X-2

350-Size Outdoor RTF Co-Axial Helicopter

Co-Axial Helicopters revolutionized RC helicopters. Today the X-2 Revolutionizes Co-Axials.

This is the Hobby People Heli's X-2 350-Size Outdoor RTF Co-Axial Helicopter. Finally, a co-axial made for the real world - for beginners and experts alike. Fly outdoors. Fly in wind. Fly fast with authority.

The X-2 helicopter is perfect for learning to fly. It's the ONLY helicopter with multiple control settings from beginner 3-channel to high-performance 5-channel. You'll find it stable and very easy to hover, which is perfect for indoor flying. Plus, it's easy to see because it's larger than most co-axial helicopters. The X-2 is simply easy to fly.

However, we mean fly, not just hover. Because after you've got hovering down in 3-channel mode (or even 2-channel altitude-limit mode with the additional Flight Height Limit Device (sold separately), only the X-2's unique patented 5-channel mixed anti-wind tail rotor design can fly in windy conditions. What's more, it has proper control authority and the power to fly FAST for advanced pilots. The experienced helicopter pilots call it Fast-Forward-Flight. Experienced or not, you'll call it EXCITING. From learning to hover in 3- or 4-channel mode to flying fast outdoors in advanced 5-channel mode, the X-2 is the most-fun, most-exciting co-axial available today. You'll never look at co-axials the same way again. Join the X-2 Revolution.

Several option upgrades are available for the X-2 to make your flying experience even more fun:

• 166206 Flight Height Limit Device - X-2 (Option) - This unique device is an on-board rpm governor that controls how high the X-2 can fly, regardless of throttle stick position. Perfect for beginners to prevent fly-aways, its also great for advanced pilots wanting to carry a camera or other expensive devices.

• 166207 Light Set - X-2 (Option) - Want to fly at night? Want a visual assist for orientation? This light set is made for the X-2 and plugs right into the 5-n-1 Rx board for ultimate convenience and compatibility.

• 166201 Brushless Conversion Set - X-2 Hopup (Option) - This brushless motor/ESC system has two motors and two ESC'sl custom-made for the X-2, to provide the utmost in power and efficiency. This gives the X-2 a 6-8 ounce payload capacity.

• 166208 Aileron Power-Assist Set - X-2 (Option) - Upgraded to Brushless motors? Need more aileron authority? This Power-Assist for aileron control gives the X-2 the same authority for aileron control as the tail motor does for pitch control. Never has a co-axial had so much control-authority and maneuverability in wind!

• 166212 Landing Gear For Video Camera - X-2 (Option) - Carry a Go-Pro or similar camera (not included) with ease. This add-on landing gear is fast and easy to install and allows the X-2 to carry a Go-Pro Video Camera! This landing gear is also great for those flying in tall grass. Note that carrying cameras or other payload adds  weight and stress to the motors. We recommend the brushless upgrade for carrying any cameras that weigh more than 2 ounces.

Setup Notes:

1. The X-2 is the latest generation of the Extreme Flyers X-350. This new generation has vastly more advanced electronics that make the TX and RX 5-n-1 incompatible with the X-350.

2. The X-2 uses a new battery plug. Plug set and Charging adapter is available. Item No 166325.

3. The new X-2 uses a metal-weighted flybar and the link is adjustable. This adjustable link is used to change the relationship between the flybar and the top blades. This creates a control for eliminating oscillation during hovering.

Takes a licking (in my case "beating" ) Keeps on ticking... Review by KGoodone
I know this isn't a Forum on this heli, but I'm real curious on the failures and what leads up to them. First of all I own 2 extreme X-350s, 2 X-350 military's and 2 X-2s. They are all a lot of fun and yes the X-2 flies MUCH better than the rest. I normally fly in the desert and open these dudes up to of the point of intentionally destroying them. They handle mild breezes no problem, and they will run away from you very quickly (fast bird). Hobby people are not kidding about the range. (100 yards brushed ). I'm installing the brushed kit and there is a marked improvement in performance and noise (much quieter ). Range in the literature says 300 yards after the installation of brushless (we'll see). Theses Heli's for the price are a remarkable machine and great for experimenting. I encourage all of you to come joint us in the discussions in RCGroups under Co-axials and tell us you woes. Maybe we can help. I can't say I don't have complains (fragile canopy) but like anything, it can be replaced with equivalent part. Just my two cents. Hope to see you in the group.

JUNK Review by Scotty
This is my second review. Knowing that the motors were unreliable from other reviews I was careful not to overheat the motors, but
after having 6 motors & 2 5-n-1 controllers fail since 6/2014 I'm done with this POS. Plus crash damage from motor/controller failures. Evidently when a motor fails it takes out the controller also. Since the over priced controller is not available at this time I'm done wasting my money. (Posted on 10/14/15)
Still flying just as good as NEW Review by Eddie
I see some negative reviews on this Heli and saying it is weak and crashes easily. Evidently some can not fly very well.
I have performed a loop with this Heli, I have had it laying on it;s side and both maneuvers resulted in a crash, BUT still performed both.
Have hit the Ground WOT, and no damage.
I lost a flybar link once ( how i pulled off the loop ), I also broke the tip of tha tail off ( taped back on )
Because i have flown this heli in ways many say it can't, I have beat it up pretty bad .
I lost one motor, but replaced both, and this Heli still flies like new. I also have lights installed on mine and even fly it in the dark.
As far as one review noted will fly in moderate wind. It will fly in EXTREME Winds. I know where i am is windy all the time, in fact I have flown this heli when I can fly nothing else because of winds.
I see no point in buying any other Heli, the X-2 does perfectly on it's own.
IF there is a weak point on this X2 Heli it is the Brushed motors. BUT cutting a hole in the canopy and I installed screen over it has made the motors last longer. Also changing out a motor is really easy and you back in the air after a few minutes.

One can not go wrong with this X2. I still fly my original one and I also bought a spare just in case. But after a couple years the original is still going strong.
Do not know what others are doing or complaining about, but after tons of crashes putting this Heli through it's paces and making it do what many say it can't, it is still Flying Great.
Buy this will have a blast, just like i have had.

Still flying and having FUN with the X2 (Posted on 10/2/15)
Hanger Queen Review by Disappointed
The Pluses: Above average User Guide & Customer Service. Great for beginner to expert flyer. This heli can handle a moderate wind. Good price only when on sale. Watch the website & Ebay.

All the Minuses: Lousy motor design; the motors are beside each other & burn out due to heat build-up. If the motors don't burn out the brushes wear out after 15-20 flights.
If the 5-n-1 controller shorts out, I have had the motor engage when hooking up the battery connector (wear eye protection!)
Flybars that break if you make a rough landing. How about DUAL links on the flybar?? The upper rotor blade grips are designed for dual links. I reinforced the ball fittings with epoxy around the base of the ball.
A mainly black canopy which is hard to see at a distance or in low light conditions. Poor canopy attachment design with rubber gromments that come off. Canopy needs better air flow to the motors.
When the tail motor wears out it will vibrate so bad that the tail rotor blade comes off. Good luck trying to get the heli back if you are fighting a head wind.
I purchased two of these heli's over a 6 month period. Mainly so I could have a spare, while one or the other was down waiting on parts. The part prices are on the high side so be prepared to spend a lot of money if you try to keep this heli in the air. I have probably spent over $500.00 in the purchase price & parts that fail, and have been damaged from a crash when a motor fails. I've moved on to a different heli that is a single rotor without flybar & has good performance in moderate winds. This heli and the replacement parts are 40- 50% less than the X2. I'm tired of throwing my money away on the X2.

Hobby People know all the short comings of the X2 but want to make more money on all the replacement parts.

Review Update 6/16/15 Review by Eddie
Update to my review of this Spectacular Heli.

I did lose a motor and had to replace one...( I just did both anyway) It is very simple process to change a motor and well worth doing.
Seems these motors retain heat. SO...I cut out my canopy and installed some screen mesh...I use to fly a couple batteries and the motors were to hot to touch. Now they are hardly warm...I can fly 6 batteries before they get that hot again.....
Makes no difference , ...this coaxial Heli is still the best heli I know of....It is fast, it handles very well and anyone from a novice to an expert would enjoy it.
My very windy location has grounded all my planes, BUT I can still fly the X-2 with no issue.
Excellent Product as i have stated several times and will again. (Posted on 6/16/15)
Customer Service Review by Butch
Going to rate at 5 stars for now...had transmitter problems with first X2 and returned to Hobby People in Santa Clarita for help. They tried to resolve issue with no luck. They honored warranty and replaced it. Looking forward to some good flying time with the X2. Will update post with results. Standing by... (Posted on 6/15/15)
STILL FLYING Review by HGhost
2nd review about this Excellent Co-Axial Heli .
This Heli, is still flying, flies just as fast as it ever did, and flies in the wind as strong today as it did when i bought it.
Have crashed it several times, little to no damage. Canopy, and a flybar link and that was all.
Even accomplished a loop ( by accident when lost flybar link ) but still did a loop with a co-axial Heli.
Many complaining about motors, have had no issues thus far, have many hours on them and very hard flying.
Maybe they got a bad batch at one point who knows, but this is still the BEST Co-axial Heli on the market and there is NONE that can do what the X2 does out of the box.
Most Heli's take allot of modifications to get them where the X2 starts out at.
I am not even interested in stepping up from this flies and handles that well.
IF HP, would produce more of these and with brushless motors to start with and maybe a tad larger with the same would be PERFECT !!

5 stars for flying, 2 stars or less due to motor issues. Review by JR
Love how it handles the wind but already had motor fail with less than
an hours flight time. They should be required to refund peoples money
due to all the issues with the motors. I am considering not to repair it.
Probably pouring good money after bad. It is a shame because it does
fly so well in the wind. I would even spend the money to go to brushless motors but some reviews say that is another set of issues.

worst heli. Review by isaac
I bought this for christmas. Flew it about 3 times an motors went out. Sent it in an they did a one time courtesy exchange, which was cool. However when I got it back I flew it for about 10 seconds hovering about 8 feet in the air, then all of a sudden it started flying straight up in the air. My Controller was not responding. I shut it off an on but the heli kept going up until it was out of sight and it was lost. I would not recommend this to anyone.not worth 200 dollars. (Posted on 1/31/15)
very satisfied Review by Newtoheli`s
I received a gift card for 75.00 and I kicked in an extra 50.00, to buy this just after Christmas 2014. I'm having a blast. The only issue I have is balance bar breaks often. I wish there was an upgrade for this problem, other than that it's great. (Posted on 1/13/15)
great helicopter for pilots with some experience Review by flyguy
great helicopter. I have 4 of them. 2 with stock motors and 2 with brushless. Helicopter is a lot of fun no matter what, but it has to be trimmed for a beginner. The heli tends to drift forward quite a bit and a pilot with no experience might have problems. The stock motors are not very durable and if you fly quite often you will be replacing them quite often. The brushless are better as far as durability goes but they add even more weight to the front of the heli which make it drift forward even more. The heli is designed with too much forward weight and is not balanced at all. Any helicopter will fly better in the wind if you weight the front end soo bad. This is still the best coaxial heli on the market in my opinion and I have 15 helicopters ranging in size from 6inch to 66 inch and have lots of flight time under my belt. I still think that this heli would be a handfull for beginner pilots. (Posted on 12/23/14)

Motor burn out Review by Scotty
Had this Heli for only three days and had a motor fail. I sent it back for repairs under warranty. The motors are mounted beside each other with a metal heat sink bracket around the motors. Seems to me that this bracket holds the heat in. The motors should be separated from each other to allow better airflow cooling & longer life. Also a finned motor heat sink bracket for each motor should be used. Now after each flight I use canned air to cool the motors & the Main Frame Plate. Would like to see a stronger canopy with a larger hole at the top to allow more airflow to the motors. This could be one of the best coaxial out there if this motor issue would be resolved. Until then I will stock up on the canned air. (Posted on 9/7/14)

great product. no problems after 25 flights. I have not had the motor issues other reviewers have. almost ready for cp heli. (Posted on 9/1/14)
great heli Review by Matt
I bought this last Christmas and have been flying it on average about once a week. A great product. Many hours of flying with limited damage. So far, I have broken blades and the landing gear, but all in crashes, about 40 in parts. If you want to fly a helicopter, this is a great one to get. Have fun. (Posted on 8/27/14)
$170 disposable Heli! Review by Bobby
I agree with everyone that thinks this is a great flying heli, even that it is easy to learn on for beginners... there's just one problem. The motors on this heli are COMPLETE JUNK!!! I have gone through multiple NEW X-2 helis and multiple NEW motors!!!! They all fail! Some after only 2 flights. I have personally seen them start glowing, smoking and catch fire at night! Not only are they junk, they are also dangerous!!!!

(Posted on 8/18/14)
Waste of money Review by Bill
I'm on my second X2 heli now... Neither of them has seen more than 30 min of flight time. Both of them has had motors go up in flames while they were on the ground.

Both new X2 helis' motors caught fire on their own and no longer work! A little research has shown me that this an extremely common occurrence! I really wish I had not wasted all that money... Do yourself a favor and stay away from this heli!

The only reliable heli that I got at Hobby People was the CX-200. (Posted on 8/17/14)
brushless motor interference Review by coaxial Axel
What's this about brushles motors interfering with the tail motor? I too have had two failures. I missed the bent frame so almost had three crashes. Once the frame bends , yes you can re-bend it, but it will allways be weak. Lets force them to carbonize it! Anyway, the motor issue is inexuseable. I mean, no crash damage is covered, so if I dont imediately upgrade to brushless is that pilot error? Sheese!! 'Anyway, disregard the words at the end. I guess it was pilot error...toWhat'What (Posted on 5/29/14)
X-2 WOW Update So far so Good Review by HGhost
It is now 5/27/2014

X-2 still flies great

So far no issues with motors or anything that some complain about.

These are brushed motors and they do get hot as do most brushed motors do. Allowing them to cool between flights can help longevity.
I purchased extra batteries and fly them all .

Can not say what will occur down the road, but so far so good .

Can not beat this Heli when it comes to the ability of a coaxial to fly outside in the wind. This thing is really fast and really maneuverable .
I started out in ch 2 and 3 with height limiter. Switched to ch 4 which eliminates the Height limiter, I finally just Unhooked it and was in starting out in ch 5, all in one day.

And I am an old guy and no Heli pilot at all. So if I can fly it ANYONE can master it in a short time.
Just wanted to update my previous Review, to let everyone know it is still doing Great . So far so Good (Posted on 5/27/14)
I really want to love this heli but..... Review by Such a Disappointment
"Edited out personal attacks"

As another reviewer stated the motors are crap!

Forget using the stock brushed motors, they will die within minutes and replacements will die as well. (they even ship dead motors!)

Once you install the brush-less motors (same cost as the heli btw) you will find the tail motor will cause interference with the brush-less motors untill the heli fails, cuts power to the main motors, and falls out of the sky. The tail motors do not last more than 1 or 2 flights.

Like I said.... wanted to love the heli, or even like it. Its a great idea but just too bad its patented to these morons and sourced out of china with no QC.

(worth noting.... Google the reviews of Hobby People retail stores and look at reviews of this heli on RC forums)

Just unhappy Review by bcd
After months of trying to master this bird I have given up and moved on to another. I have replaced the motors three times and various other parts. At first I thought it was operator error but discovered that the motors were the culprit. Upon failing the motors would make the bird handle erratically and make for excessive stick input. The motors would only last about 6 battery cycles before showing signs they were failing. (Posted on 4/25/14)
X-2....WOW Review by HGhost
Purchased this a few months back, never had the weather to give it a try. Bought the height limiter and attached it and also lights were added. Gave it it's maiden flight just today....

The height limiter only works on ch 2&3 , allows you to stay low and get use to the Heli, that lasted about 2 minutes. Switched to ch 4 ( height limiter is eliminated ) This Heli handled and flew better, and after one battery used, I moved from my front yard ( limited space and height ability ) to my flying field .

Switched the Tx to the 5th ch.....all I can say is WOW !!!!!
The X-2 rises fast and is a dream to fly and remarkably easy as well. Never flew a Heli like this ( just smaller indoor type and a S33 which does not do well outside)...the X-2 moved through the breezy conditions like nothing and when the winds gusted on occasion, the X-2 did not care, it still flew Great.

I am no pro by no means and if I can fly the X-2 after a few minutes in this manner, Anyone can. I highly recommend this to Everyone...especially someone who has never flown a Heli before.

This Heli is amazing and the feeling is WOW. My only real gripe is the batteries do not last very long ( Must have more batteries)...I have lights on mine and at and near dark it looks amazing. I unhook them when it is light out.
One other issue tho it looks cool , but the canopy is Black, would be nicer if it was a brighter color so it would be easier to orientate. At a little distance that black color is deceiving
I bought an extra one and intend on painting it a bright color perhaps a Yellow or some sort of Neon color?
Irregardless, this X-2 has to be the best Coaxial Heli on the market, and for a beginner the best learning tool one could ever own.

Thanks Hobby People for a Great product and one that can be upgraded one day and at a reasonable Price.

Again the X-2 is simply WOW !!!! (Posted on 4/21/14)
fantastic heli Review by Flyguy
I have four of these helis. One uses the old X350 5b1 miliiary heli body, one uses a SR Huey body, and two use the stock body. I have brushless motors in the 5b1 and in one stock x2. The x2 with the brushless also has aileron assist and the light kit in it. These helis are flown year round and are the very best coaxial helis I have flown yet and I have 10 helis. They are easy to work on and the parts are very affordable. The one and only complaint I have is that the stock motors do not last very long, just like in the original X350, but the brushless motors seem to last forever and are well worth the money if you fly often like I do. (Posted on 4/5/14)
Fantastic Heli Review by Steve
I held off on buying this heli for a long time because the reviews of the first generation X350 were so bad. Glad I waited - the X2 is the best flying heli I've ever owned. It's both stable and maneuverable. (Posted on 3/18/14)
HPHELI X-2 Review by Alan
This Helicopter is excellent to fly and is a great unit I love it and here is a tip I found to help save bodies (take some clear box tape and line the inside of the body and then it won't break so easily and the body last longer) I highly recommend this helicopter (Posted on 1/17/14)
great product, Review by Ron
Received this for Christmas and have been flying everyday since. Really clever features allow you to set X2 up so you can flight it in simple mode, and as you get the hang of flying a helicopter, you can turn up the settings to make increase the performance. Best thing you can do is get a few extra batteries so you can fly for longer time. great product. (Posted on 1/9/14)
Great flight Review by Jrod
Just got this as a gift to myself !! I have the Traxxas DR-1 and mastered the 4 Ch flight, but wanted to fly fast outside. This thing is great because its unlike most helo's you have flown before. Being able to start in 3 or 4 ch mode first to get the hang of its charactaristics is key. Then after a couple flight hrs throw it in to the 5 ch strong wind setting and this X2 is fast. be careful it will go far and high before you know it. grab an extra batt and an extra shell just in case you have a few spills. Electric tape works great on minor cracks. (Posted on 1/3/14)

I have flown toy helicopters but Review by Matt
The X2 is the real deal. This is not a toy. I can fly indoors and outdoors and it is fast. I was flying within 2 minutes of charge. You must fly this helicopter, and it is addicting. Great product. (Posted on 8/19/13)
