Have had "lock out" crashes with this rec. Review by Robert
Rating
I have just about all the Airtronics receivers and this one has been the worst by far. I have had 3 crashes due to no control suddenly. Prior flight, everything is fine, next flight, left / right turn into a dive and straight in. Two planes destroyed and one was fixable but damaged. I've also had 4 - 5 second lock-outs but got control back....scary!! I now have a "test plane" devoted just to fly these receivers before I can trust them. I have about ten of these receivers.

Airtronics has been great with support (Matt) replacing for free one of the rec that caused two of my crashes. I was also told by Matt that this has been a "bulletproof" rec. Not for me.

The park flyer rec (92664) is awsome! The blue 6 channel (92224) & 8 channel (92824) receivers have been great, maybe a few glitches but no crashes. (Posted on 6/1/13)
Great Receiver Review by Steven R

I liked the first one I got so well, I ordered a second one. I am using it with Stylus that has the 2.4 module. Binds easily and never had a glitch. Been using the first one over a year and second one about 5 months. I am using 4.8v NiHi pack on both. (Posted on 1/5/13)
I Crashed my Vintage Super Kaos 60 using this receiver Review by Lost My vintage Super Kaos 60

Really sorry to hear about the crash. We will evaluate receiver upon arrival to our service department. Until we evaluate, can't comment on cause, but the RX500 is overwhelmingly our most popular rx and has been bulletproof. Matt

I decided to use this receiver brand new to fly my Vintage Kaos 60. I had one flight on it earlier and decided to trim it better and get one more flight in. As I was making a left turn heading back to the field ans about 250 feet up I lost total control and the plane went in nose first and totalled it. I fly almost daily since 1973 and I never had any radio failures. I own an RDS8000 and several other name bran radios. It is the worst feeling in RC to, and that is to have no control. The receiver is suspect because I have flown this plane with many other receivers. I will send this receiver back to get checked out! I am very Dissapointed. I used my RDS8000 transmitter with it. CAN"T USE 2CELL LIPO ??? Review by THE old grump
Rating
We believe you want to use this for rx, You can use LI-FE or A123 Packs without regulator, or you can use LIpos with a regulator.

HAVENT USED MINE YET, just saw latest ad that warns NOT to use 2 cell lipo, IT didn't say that in the EARLY version. I fly ONLY electric an that makes BEC usless. Never would have bought it if that was mentioned !! THE OLD GRUMP (Posted on 7/11/11)
Great Receiver Review by Ray D

I'm using the RX500 Full-Range 5 channel receiver in a R/C sailboat with a RDS 8000 TX. I also have one in a 4 function foamy 2 meter glider and one in a 3 meter RES sailplane. I use the SD-10G TX in the sailplanes. I have full control of the sailboat at extreme range and the sailplanes have always been solidly connected. I fly at large contests and frequently fly almost out-of-sight with many other planes in the air to get my times. I have never had any concern with this receiver using either 4 x 600 mah NiCads or 4 x 2000 mah Eneloop battery packs. (Posted on 5/30/11)
Range beyond my eyesight Review by Skye M.
Rating
In addition to the 10 ch FHSS-3 and 8 ch FHSS-1 receivers I have two of these. I fly the SD10G transmitter. Not much flight time on this 5 channel FHSS-1 receiver until a few weeks ago when I flew it in a 2 meter wooden ARF sailplane in a club contest. The plane was so high and down wind (10 mph winds that day) my timer had to call "left, right, etc." for me for about 2 minutes of the 10 minute flight task. The control was rock solid the whole time. Just running off a 4 cell NiMh receiver pack. Avoid voltage regulators and lipos, just one more potential failure point in your system. (Posted on 10/30/10)
Great Range, Great Price Review by John G.

As always, Airtronics delivers great performance. Range is beyond anything I will ever need, binding was easy, and price is affordable. (Posted on 9/27/10)
