bad retracts Review by Ken

Overall plane is nice and it flies well. The front retracts are terrible. On my third landing it was just a little hard, one of the retract gear is defective and will not open. You have to buy a full set (L and R) costs too much.

Take off Review by Sabyx5

P-51.

To successfully take off with any P-51, the plane must taxi straight
without compensation from the tail wheel. Thus, the wheels must all be
aligned.

Since you've successfully set the rudder for flight, adjust the tail wheel
to be straight without changing the rudder trim (visually, the tail wheel
should simply look like it is centered and "should" roll straight).

Next, adjust the position of the main gear wires/wheels so that both axles
are straight or have toe-in of 1 degree each. This can be achieved by
holding the main gear wire at the "bend" with one set of pliers while
adjusting the axle portion of the gear wire until it is straight, or by
removing the gear and the wire from the retract mechanism and adjusting
the flat spot until it is straight.

Just like aligning a car, the axles/wheels must be aligned.

Once it will taxi straight, then it should take-off ok. During the
take-off roll, the plane will require right rudder input to keep the plane
from pulling to the left due to the torque of the 4-blade propeller. To
"cheat", you might consider adding 1-2 clicks of right trim on the rudder
before take-off.

save your money Review by sailngdrms455

This airplane is rather difficult to fly for a novice or even an intermediate pilot, and too slow to be entertaining for an advanced pilot. I found that for the size of this scale aircraft, it was quite heavy. Also it is somewhat underpowered and only flies well under full throttle. Have not tried 4S lipo yet, but 3S 2200 mAh only gives about 5-6 min of flight time. With a Zippy 4000mAh 3S lipo, I got about 12 min. It is somewhat unstable at slower speeds making it quite difficult to land. However, the attention to detail is excellent and its scale looks are impressive. In summary, I woulld save my money and go for the FMS P51D which looks almost as good, is larger and more stable, and much faster. Bottom line, this model looks really good sitting on the ground. needs better landing gear Review by RCFlyer
Rating
The plane looks good but I have found the landing gear to be so wobbly and flimsy that it is very difficult to take off. Once in the air it flies well and looks scale, but then you have to land on that weak gear. We have a petromat runway at our field and it just may not be smooth enough for this plane. When taxiing the gear flexes all over making it very difficult to control. I like to do touch and go's, but the gear on this thing makes that very unlikely. I would not even consider buying it again. It takes a real expert to handle this plane on take-off and landing. I have been fling for several years successfully, but this plane is more than I can handle on the ground. (Posted on 10/4/13)
