In the golden age of drag racing, Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen was and still is today one of the sports most popular drivers. Over the course of his career Tom McEwen was run and won more races than you can count. He is famous for racing both Funny Cars and Rail Dragsters from coast to coast. This kit represents Tom McEwen’s 1974 digger dragster that set ET records and put competitor cars on the trailer. Today Tom McEwen can look back on his driving career with pride. He set speed records driving many different cars. He earned his nickname of “The Mongoose” racing against his famous rival Don “The Snake” Prudhomme. Their match races during the 1970s are legendary and considered drag racings Golden Years due in part to these famous races.
Nearly 20 years after his retirement, Tom McEwen remains one of racing's most popular drivers. On their own, the sheer number of wins throughout his 45-year career is impressive - but his list of records is even more extraordinary. McEwen set many elapsed time records at the helm of this 1974 "digger" dragster, which you can recreate with this detailed Revell kit! Kit features a full one-piece chassis frame, removable body panels, a detailed starter's "Christmas tree," a seated Tom McEwen figure, a standing crewman figure, soft tires and ignition wires.
