Incredible engine! Review by WayneDiZi
Rating Well, I have two .70's, one for my Great Planes 56" Mustang and one for my VQ Yak 52. These pull both exceptionally, and I'm ofen asked if I have a .91 in the Mustang! Ha, go figure, and the reply I get is always a surprise that its only a lil ole 70, very good on fuel might I add.
One comment was about the idle, which I too had problems, which were all mine as all I had to do was lean the idle mixture quite a bit from the factory setting and voila, perfect start and idle, litterally every single time.
Bravo Hobby People! Love all the Magnums, especially this one!! (Posted on 8/30/12) -

for bob and those having glo plug issues... mine does not have these issues.... Review by David
Rating I am wondering if there is a different reason for the glo plug issues such as fuel type etc. Are ou running fuel and then dumping the leftover back into the gallon container or maybe too much nitro or oil? Just thoughts because this happens a lot when guys put the remaining tank fuel back into the main jug. The unused fuel has byproducts from the recirculating due to muffler pressurization of the fuel tanks. Along with the pressure comes the burned fuel back into the plane's fuel tank and over a few flights of putting the tank fuel back into your main jug will cause flight issues because of contamination's. This will also toast your coil in the plug over a very short amount of time.
Just a thought and maybe a solution?
Good luck with it. Other than this I just recommend trying a different fuel mfg or ratio of nitro. (Posted on 2/24/12) -
Nice Engine... But glow plug issue as other reviewer Review by Chuck
Rating I have the engine installed in a Kyosho Oxalys 50 pattern plane. More than enough power at half-throttle and I love sound. I noticed that when I take the glow igniter away I too have a drop in RPM and I notice rough idle as well. This started occurring after a half-gallon of fuel had been run through the engine. I will change the plug and see what happens. Other than that this is a great engine. (Posted on 2/6/12)

ENGINE HEAD COVER WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS FROM FACORTY Review by JIM
Rating Jim, you can return engine or we can send you new parts. If you want parts, please send pics so we can address the quality issues. Matt
WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST MAGNUM BLUE HEAD FOR MY ZLIN,MY FRIEND ALSO ASKED ME TO ORDER ONE FOR HIM.
JUST 2-3 DAYS AGO I ORDERED ANOTHER.
MY FRIEND SAID HE STILL HAD THE NEW ONE IN THE BOX AND ASKED IT I WANTED ANOTHER,SO I WENT TO LOOK AT IT AND NOTICED THE THERE 2 CRACKS IN THE FRONT OF THE VALVE COVER,IT WAS ON BACKWARDS FROM THE FACTORY,I ASSUME THEY ASSEMBLE THEM AND THEN TURN THEM OVER BEFORE THEY BOX THEM BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE THE METAL CONTACT,WHICH HIT THE COVER AND CRACKED IT .!
I AM A RETURNING CUSTOMER AND WILL TAKE PICTURES OF THE VALVE COVER AND RETURN IT IF YOU WISH.
THE ENGINE HAS NEVER BEEN RUN,THERE IS NO FUEL RESIDUE ON THE INSIDE OF THE COVER.
I WOULD LIKE A NEW VALVE COVER TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS.
AND THE ONE I PUT IN MY ZLIN RUNS FINE,NO COMPLAINTS,NICE ENGINES,JUST ONE OF THESE OVER SITES AT THE FACTORY./
I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR REPLY

Love this engine! Review by Daddyo57
Rating I started out with this engine in a CAP 232 kit built airplane and the engine ran great but I wasnt wild about the airplane. I have now installed it in a Early models RC repro kit of a Goldberg Sr Falcon. This airplane weighs 6 3/4 ponds and the magnum 70 FS pulls it around with authority!!! I am running a Zinger 13X6 prop currently and am going to try a Zinger 12X8 next for extra ground clearance. I didnt measure RPM as I am still breaking the engine in. I intend to buy more Magnum 4 strokes in the near future, a 91 and a 1.80 and if they run as well as the 91 I will be a customer for life!!! BTW i have owned many 4 strokes through the years, OS and Saito mostly and this engine runs with the best of them at a much lower cost. (Posted on 9/23/11)

Going Through Glow Plugs Review by Bob AMA # 80941
Rating I have a Magnum 70 on my Hanger 9 Cub that seems to like a new glow plug every flying session. Symptom of when it's time to change plugs is the engine idle drops significantly when the glow ignitor is removed and the engine runs irratically at anything below half throttle. A new glow plug, using both the O.S. type F and the Thunderbolt, solves the problem. Performance is great with the new plug - for awhile. I'm spending as much on glow plugs as I am on fuel. Other than that, it's a great engine with good power and smooth transition. (Posted on 9/22/11)

Best Value on the market ! Review by Rick
Rating I own one of these and currently have it on a BH Models T-28 Trojan. The quality of the engine is excellent and it has performed flawlessly for over a year now. I also had it on a 1/4 scale J-3 Cub before I sold that plane and it was a perfect match there too. I have been very pleased with Magnum engines so far and I do plan to buy more. In my opinion, the Magnums are the best value available on the market today. Keep up the good work ! (Posted on 8/31/10)

Tune that 4S Review by Ken
Rating Bought the XL 70 RFS about two years ago. My first 4S. Had it in an old texan and it pulled it around okay. Recently installed in a hi performance 46 size bipe but it had set for awhile and just didn´t seem to have enough power. Worked with Todd at Global´s excellent tech support and found a couple of things. First read the manual and adjust the valves. There´s an extra 1000+ RPM to be found when you get them right! Engines been a real power house spinning an 11-7 3 blade at 11200 using 15% fuel. Idle is fantastic and transition is excellent. Running inverted in a full cowl doesn´t overheat and a little loctite around the muffler sealed up the little bit of oil blow by messing up the inside of the cowl. Keep the "O" rings fresh and all the bolts tight. Bottom line, like every other mass produced product a little bit of attention and fine tuning has turned out a real Gem!!

Great running engine Review by Jim
Rating I have had my Magnum 70 for over a year now and it has had only one problem. I was on my 5th tank of fuel when one of the values stock open losing power. I was able to get my Spacewalker safely landed. I called Hobby People where I had bought it and they had me send it back in for repair. It did not cost me anything except postage. Hobby People had the engine repaired and it has more powerful than before. It has been running for almost 10 months now without any trouble. Great power and a perfect idle. I only gave the engine 4 stars becasue of the miss hap, but I will buy another Magnum. Infact I have a great running Magnum 91FS in a 1/5 scale Fokker DR-1 (Posted on 8/30/10)
