i just bought this car about a week ago and all i have to say is BUY IT!!!! i have won almost every race with it and it is very durable and i love it. it is very fast for the price of it. i love this car cuz it is watterproof and u can drive this thing into a lake if u wanted to. i think that u should not look any more for a car and just buy this one, u will definetly will be satisfied with this truck!!! I bought this truck Stock Drove it for a Bit... Time for a Upgrade went to my local Hobby Shop #1 upgrade to bearing DON'T BUY STOCK 5x8mm go up to 5x11 & use aluminium steering housings Cheep $20 #2 Sealed Spur Gear cover stock on has a Hole in it , only thing about this upgrade is you need to Buy a New 86 or 87 tooth MAX spur gear Part is made by RPM like under $10 worth it #3 Sealed Differential made by Fast Lane Machine costly $59 but you will lose the CLICKING in the Transmission this way Stock Diff Sucks.!!! #4 bit the bullet & bought the VXL upgrade Brushless Motor & ESC WOW wort every Penny Found one at my local Hobby Shop that was NEW but a take of from a Rustler vxl got it for $160 a Steal.
I have seen them go on Ebay for $145 + Shipping did I say Wow don't forget the Wheelie Bar you will need it.!! Now I need more $$ now to get more upgrades but still a Better truck then buying the Stampede VXL as a package still under that Price by adding the parts myself.!

This truck is amazing, but when you first get it and it's not upgraded it does not run as long. But when you get a better battery then it can run longer because you have two batteries and the better battery runs a wile. Then you should get the better charger that is what i got and it makes it allot funner because you get several runs in a day rather than one. Well why am I pointing out upgrades when the truth is this truck is very durable I have flipped it and rammed it under a car and it is gust scratched. They say it can go off-road and it can very well it's not like other R/C cars it's waterproof and is made for this. I could even make it allot of places even on training mode(limited throttle). This car will stick with you because it is a great beginners car and you can upgrade it to make it an experts car to. So pretty much if your looking for a great beginners and experts(once upgraded) then this is the car for you. (Posted on 2/6/11)

Great truck for the price I would recommend that if you get one, get the quick charger, larger front bumper, and the wheelie bar. It did loose its grip in the snow and slammed into my leg I broke a peice but the parts are very easy to find everywhere. Great Truck! (Posted on 1/15/11)

The traxxas stampede xl-5 is a good truck it has good speed and it it does great wheelies and also it can get some sick air, but if you want to go big it is recommended to land on grass sand or dirt but if you are gonna go big DO NOT land on concrete it bottoms out horribly. The stampede is an okay vehicle but I had to replace the motor a few times.Every thing is stock, but I did add on a front plastic bumper.I got my free motors from Traxxas.com.I give there customer service 5 stars.Ground clearance is average.I use a Venom Ni-Mh battery 3,000 Mah with expectational speed.I do not recommend this for back yard bashing.Why?because it is made out of plastic, they only need the major part metal.I do like the one touch set up on the speed controller.Thank you for reading this review.
