I bought Traxxas Slash about 3 months ago,and I´ve never owned an RC truck before
it runs great and I´ve had no problems with it. (Posted on 8/31/10)

This is a great all-around backyard basher as well as a track-worthy racing truck. I have owned various RC cars and trucks throughout the years so I have experience in the various brands and models that have been in the market. I recently bought a Slash for a friend´s 11 yr old son after researching the current line-up of 1/10 RTR trucks. This was his first high-performance RTR RC truck. He has been taking it to the local RC off-road track once or twice a week. He also runs it around the house when we can´t get to the track.
So here are my thoughts after the first couple of months.

Bullet-proof. It has performed flawlessly. Charge up the battery, turn it on, and GO! It is amazing that he can crash into a concrete wall at 20+ MPH, back it up, and keep on racing. (although this is not recommended) He has flipped it, crashed it, bashed it into other cars/trucks, and it just keeps on screaming for more. After over 10-12 trips to the track he has not had one major breakage.

2.4ghz... radio means no more worrying about other cars running the same channel. It is also much more responsive than the AM radios. This is a must for anyone running at a local track. The fact that a decent quality 2.4ghz radio is included with this truck makes it a real winner!

Motor performance is top-notch. This is one of the fastest and most efficient stock motors on a RTR 1/10 truck. It has plenty of power at the starting line and in the straight-a-ways yet it is easy to control in the tight corners. There is no need to upgrade until you want to get into more advanced racing.

Suspension performance is also great. Out-of-the-box, this thing is tuned to rock. Some people warned me about the Slash´s tendency to flip over sideways in the turns. I noticed this slightly on hard pavement but it has not been an issue on the clay track. The grip of the suspension and tires is much actually better than I would have expected from a stock RTR truck. I recommend leaving the stock settings until you run it and see what needs to be adjusted for your racing style. Minor adjustments in the ride height through the flexible suspension settings can make a big improvement. Just simply adding or removing the shock spacers is all you need to dial in the suspension for most of your needs.

Quick Tips: Read the Manual! Buy a couple extra 7-cell batteries. Buy a Peak battery charger to charge the batteries in 30-45 minutes. Let the motor and batteries cool down between runs. Clean the truck with compressed air after each day, or night, of running. Clean out the dust/dirt from the motor and under the plastic the slipper clutch cover after running in dusty conditions. Check for loose screws on the suspension, frame, and rear wheel hubs after every battery change or two. A quick visual check will keep you running and save you from replacing parts that will occasionally back-out on you. Eventually you might choose to use the temporary blue lock-tite on screws that continue to back-out but you don´t need to do it right away if you just check them periodically. This happens on any RC vehicle due to high-speeds and inevitable crashes.

Overall this truck has worked so well that I bought another one for myself. Now we both race at the track. Still no broken parts or mechanical failures! Way to go Traxxas! I give the Slash 5 stars for being an overall great value and solid, well-built RTR racing machine that has everything you need in the box! (Posted on 8/24/10)
