I've been in the hobby off and on for over 25 years. As I've gotten a little more serious I decided to give myself the gift of a nice high-end radio.

I bought a Spektrum DX8, an Aurora 9, a JR9503 and the SD-10G.

I used each one for 2-3 weeks to get a feel for programming and flying and spent at least 15-20 hours just playing with features.

In the end, for me, the SD-10G's feel, myriad and ease of programming and feature set completely blow the other radios out of the water.

It feels like a $1000 radio, and I doubt the higher-end JR's or Spektrums have ANYTHING on the SD-10G.

This is a fantastic radio! I can hardly believe all the features this radio has. I have had several other radio brands in the last 30+ years and none compare to this radio, although they were all good radios. I have spent several days reading the Manual and going through all the features. I don't think there is anything you can't do with this radio as far as programming goes, although I'm not a radio Guru and don't fly competion anymore. I do fly planes of all types,& both Nitro and electric heli's. It will do all that I want it to do and then some.
Whatever type of flying you do, you should be very happy with this great radio. (Posted on 3/25/11)

I bought my radio at the sister airtronics site but I wanted to leave a review here as well. It has taken me over a year to finally be able to buy my radio. I am 100% disabled vet so money is tight and I needed to have a radio that I could grow with. I finally chose this one for several reasons. The first is that the price is excellent and the programing is quite simple. I needed a radio that would last me for years to come and this one is truly an excellent radio. With triple rate switches and the speed with which it connects to the receiver I know that once I can afford to finish a plane or two (money again :-) That this radio will grow with me. It has been about twenty years since I have last flown and from all I see with my new radio I will be able to use it with any future planes that I can think of flying.
The ten channels for the price of a futaba or spectrum 8 channel ensures that I have room to grow at prices that are just great.
There are only two downsides I see, the first is that It doesn't seem to have the ability to link to my grandsons flight sims (Phoenix and G5.5) please let me know if I am wrong on that score because I would really like to use it there.
The other is with the receivers. All of my previous receivers as well as the ones my friends have are different. On these receivers a 6 channel is really a 5 and a 7 is a 6 etc. What I mean by this is that one of the channels is used up by the battery. On a spectrum, futaba etc there is a battery spot followed by 6 channels on a 6, 7 channels on a 7 etc. This is really no big deal I just found it strange. Now I have to order a 7 channel receiver to run a 6 channel one in a plane a friend is holding for me. This adds up to cost in the long run but I still am going with you guys all the way. Perhaps in the long run things will be different? Or are the others going your way too?

I am looking forward to winning one of these radios. We do not get much sponsorship at our club, so if I win this radio. I will donate it to the our club so it can in the War Bird raffle. We have a war Bird fly in every year, It will make a pilot very happy. I have a really nice radio, but you should buy one of these they are very good.

Just bought it for my Trex and its unbelievable. Programming is easy, fast and improves my flying. Next I will switch to digital servos based on Mike G.s advice. (Posted on 1/30/11)

I have flown with several different radios on the market today and I can honestly say that I will never be with out my Airtronics radio again. The programing is second to none and I just feel more connected to my airplanes than ever before. I am glad I made the move to Airtronics and I will be with them from now on!!! (Posted on 1/21/11)

The SD-10G is far and away the best radio system on the market, and considering the programming ease and flexibility of being able to assign any function to any switch, along with stick switches, 5 flight modes with triple rates and/or expo in each mode, 9 point pitch and throttle curves, there is no reason to look elsewhere for more transmitter. If this sounds complicated, forget it, you won't even need to open the manual. The programming is laid out in a spreadsheet format, very, very easy radio to program.

Also, the SD-10G has the lowest latency rate of any radio on the market, you will feel connected to your airplane or heli like you cannot believe! . JR invites you to "Feel the difference". Well, if you buy a JR radio, the only difference you'll feel is the empty feeling in your wallet, because you payed much more and didn't get a radio anywhere near as capable as the SD-10G.

There is no better radio than the SD-10G. Hands-down guaranteed!! (Posted on 10/18/10)
