This was a Christmas present from my wife, which on its own was awesome. After I got it, I read a bunch of reviews that shook my faith in the Vertex. Sure, the body posts keep breaking, I had to upgrade to metal differentials, get some new batteries and a charger, but after letting my kid have a turn the other day, she drove into the sewer the other day. I mean it, within 30 seconds, into the storm drain and down into the sewer. I had to pop the manhole in front of the house, climb down and fish it out. Car still works fine. I beat the tar out of this little truck at a bmx track near the house and in the front yard, pretty regularly. It just keeps chugging along. The way I see it, since you are pretty much talked out of any build-your-own rc kit at the hobby stores these days, a car that requires a little bit of tlc is the next best thing. It's still cheaper than my old '72 Plymouth, as far as hobbies go. (Posted on 4/28/12)

Parts Available but keep it out of water since t will fry the radio. HP wants to sell you another entire set for $100

The car flips and turtles if you hit the ramps too hard and breaks the body mounting posts. These are about $7 from HP.

The brushed motor isn't crazy fast like the brushless but it is okay speed.

Overall it's a 3 out of 5. Be sure to silicone over the openings in your receiver and you should be okay. (Posted on 2/8/12)

The vertex is decent right out the box but needs several add-ons; a better/faster charger and higher cap battery to start with. The run time with stock batt is just under ten minutes and the stock charger takes 4+ hours to recharge! Also, the stock brushed motor and esc do not work on lipo batts and the cost to upgrade far outweighs this machine. BUT, for a beginner, who doesn't need crazy speeds, it is a great car! Theres one problem the connecters melt and it was not well wired. When you buy it you should buy better shock towers they break really easy but this rc car is great for the little ones. (Posted on 12/28/11)
