Traxxas Slash 2WD Truck

Short Course Truck w/ 7-Cell Battery, Charger

The Traxxas Slash brings all the action home so you can experience the high-speed head-to-head competition at the track or in your own backyard. The Slash was inspired by the CORR (Championship Off-road Racing) Pro-2 class. The Pro-2 class specifies rear-wheel drive trucks purpose-built to fly over jumps and rip full-throttle through the turns. The Traxxas Slash hangs it out for an all new way to challenge your driving skills. The 4-wheel independent suspension has been carefully tuned to replicate the Pro-2 driving and handling experience as closely as possible. The scale appearing tires provide just the right amount of bite and thick, blinding clouds of dirt roost.

MODEL 5803: Fully assembled, Ready-To-Race, with TQ radio (not TQi), XL-5 Waterproof Electronic Speed Control and ProGraphix painted body, 7-cell battery and included optional 23-tooth pinion gear. Colors may vary.

Traxxas Skill Level 1.

*Bodies vary. To ensure you get the Slash you want, it is recommended that you visit your local hobby store.

Traxxas Power Cell Batteries

Traxxas Power Cell Battery Packs are optimized for free-flowing power and maximum punch with premium quality, low-resistance cells with flexible, silicone-jacketed 12-gauge wire; heavy-duty welded tabs; and the Traxxas high-output gold-plated high-current connectors. Precise assembly with attractive individually-wrapped cells and clear overwrap complete the package.

Off-Road Anywhere

When the racing action cools down, the Traxxas Slash is well-equipped to tackle all of your off-track driving adventures. The long travel suspension and oil-filled shocks easily absorb jumps and rough terrain. The unique chassis design provides huge center ground-clearance to drive over deep ruts, rocks, and other obstacles that leave ordinary R/C trucks stuck. The tires use advanced tread design and sophisticated rubber compounds to provide incredible grip off-road with enough versatility to also perform well on concrete and asphalt. The fenders cover the tires so you bang against your driving buddies without getting tangled up. The patent pending Revo-spec Torque-Control slipper clutch design delivers smooth operation, precise adjustment, and consistent traction control. The bellcrank steering system virtually eliminates bump steer for precise handling and control. A digital steering servo delivers lightning fast response.

Sealed Electronics Extend Your Driving Fun

Traxxas shocked enthusiasts with the release of their exclusive watertight, sealed electronics in the E-Maxx that provided the freedom to drive where you want to drive through water, mud, snow, and other wet-running conditions that wouldnt have been possible before. Now the Traxxas Slash is only the second Ready-To-Race model ever to come equipped with this brand-new technology. The new XL-5 electronic speed control and the mini receiver are sealed against the elements giving you the freedom go places you might not have though possible. It opens up a whole new world of adventure and fun. Wet muddy tracks are no problem for the Slash. The battery compartment makes it easy to install batteries and the clever design makes it quickly adaptable for either 6 or 7-cell running (hump packs or stick packs).

Modified Muscle

The Titan 12T 550 modified motor is designed for incredible mod-motor power output with virtually maintenance-free operation, and long-lasting performance. The Titan 12T 550 motors integrated cooling fan pulls air through the motor to keep temperatures down. Airflow is routed through vent tunnels molded in the motor plate. A cooler-running motor equates to faster speeds, longer runtime, and extended motor life.

The XL-5 Electronic Speed Control offers high current handling, EZ-Set one-button setup, and smooth high-frequency control. Three drive profiles, thermal-shutdown protection, gold-plated connectors, and incredibly low resistance are all features you might expect to only be available on an expensive replacement ESC. As todays batteries store more and more energy inside their cells, traditional battery connectors could no longer keep up. The included Traxxas High-Current Connector opens the door for unrestricted current flow.

Training Mode

Traxxas exclusive patent-pending Training Mode lets everyone get in on the racing action. Just press a button to limit full-throttle power to 50%. This allows young or new drivers to safely develop their control skills before unlocking full power to the mighty Titan 12T motor. The Slash is perfect for drivers at all experience levels. Training mode even makes it easy to hand the transmitter over to your friends who have never driven a radio controlled truck before.

Brushless Ready

The Traxxas Slash is built for extreme Velineon brushless horsepower (sold separately). Simply bolt it in and 7-cell speed jumps to 40+mph. Add 11.1V LiPo batteries and you have the potential to double your speed. Bigger roosts and longer hang-time are right at your fingertips. The included steel transmission gears, full ball bearings, and high-quality metal turnbuckle links are the winning setup for brushless durability. The factory-installed planetary differential is Traxxas-tough with hardened steel gears that never need adjusting! Perfect for long-lasting, all-day fun. Accessory battery hold-downs are available for use with large capacity Lipo battery packs* that can extend speed and run time. Compare the durability and features to others and youll see that only Traxxas makes them truly brushless ready.

100% Fully Assembled and Ready-To-Race

The Traxxas Slash model 5803 comes fully-assembled and Ready-To-Race with the TQ (not TQi) radio system installed and adjusted, XL-5 power system, a painted and decaled body, glued tires, and detailed instructions.

Over 30 mph with your 7-cell battery and included optional 23-tooth pinion gear.

* The installed XL-5 does not provide low-voltage detection for LiPo battery packs. Consult your hobby dealer for add-on solutions that will allow LiPo usage with the XL-5. Batteries sold separately.

This is our 1st professional RC truck and it is incredible. We have been using a newbright car we bought from Target and it was slow, didn't turn very easily, and was only for the road. The slash is everything the newbright car isn't, fast, tough, and can jump our skateboards ramps easily. The only thing we still need, another slash. (Posted on 3/20/14)

Great Deal For the Price Review by Master Chief
Rating
The Traxxas Slash 2WD was my first off road RC truck. The deal comes with a great starter pack, but not as good if you want to race more on a track or go really fast. For example the battery pack is ok as a start but it has two problems. First it takes really long to charge. Second it doesn't last really long, if you are going fast most of the time (not in training mode). The truck comes with a Titan 12T 550 brushed motor which isn't as good as a brushless motor, but it certainly gives the Slash enough power to go 30+. Also the truck comes brushless ready, a good thing if you ever want to upgrade to a more powerful motor (A 1/10 brushless motor is $200, alomost the price of the truck). Lastly I think this is a very good truck for anyone who is starting out because of the truck's strong design.
Just bought mine today and loved the price since it was my own saving money, might want to get a roll cage and attach a camera. And am looking forward to racing against others at a track close by.

bought 2 slashs and they are great. The trucks were the #1 item on the kids lists, and santa brought them. Kids were using them and 1 of the trucks failed right away, while 2nd truck kept going like a timex watch. We will head to lake forest today for help in getting truck back running. Overall, impressed, but a bit disappointed. (Posted on 12/26/13)

good basher and has a lot of aftermarket support Review by Bryan
Rating
The Traxxas Slash was my first Hobby grade RC and I have been using over a year. In stock form it's set up for bashing and realistic handling but if you want to use it on a track, just by Losi springs, change shock oil, shock mounting, and new tires and you have a totally different vehicle. My servo went out because of a hard jump and I'm currently using the Castle Sidewinder SCT combo on 3S and everything stock held up pretty good. Even though it says it's waterproof, the screws will rust and you have to take apart your bearings after going in wet conditions. Aftermarket support is available anywhere and I've seen people build Slashes using only aftermarket parts. The high COG chassis isn't bad and you can spend $50 for that to be taken care of. When this thing is properly tuned it can be very competitive. I had an awesome experience with this truck. I recommend it to anyone getting into the hobby:) (Posted on 2/22/13)

Ok It's been about 14 years since I bought my last hobby grade rc car and the slash not only met my standards but exceeded them. I bought it a week ago and ran the snot out of it and no problems yet. My only complaint is that there is no longer a hobby people store or a local track near Santa Monica. Other than that this rc car is tops, I do sujest getting at least another battery and a faster charger to shorten the charging time and maximise the run time. (Posted on 8/20/12)

first weekend i had it the motor burnt out. wasnt happy with that. put a brushless in it right away. no more motor problems. TONS of problems with the shocks. always leaked and caps would pop off. even alum caps. JUNK shocks. super top heavy and rolls over very easy. great linkage though!!! front caster blocks and steering hubs break so had to go to rpm to fix that problem. not a fan of the 2075 servo as i have had to rebuild it twice. went to a metal gear hi tec servo. hate the traxxas speed controls. allways loosing calibration and buttons have broke on everyone i have owned. if you strip a gear in the tranny its so time consuming to change it out. not a very easy tranny to work on. Not really as good as people are saying. (Posted on 9/18/11)

This car is perfect for new beginners looking to get into the hobby or for more experienced drivers looking for a better car. I got mine for christmas and I have had no trouble with it. My friend has an Sc10 and we race each other all the time. The Traxxas Slash is comparable if not better than the Sc10. If you buy this package i would recommend that you buy a better charger. The one that comes with the package is on the cheap side. This is a great car and will compete with any other electric car on the track. (Posted on 1/22/11)

Great Track Basher - Included 2.4ghz radio and 7 cell battery make it a steal for the price. Review by Don
Rating
This is a great all-around backyard basher as well as a track-worthy racing truck. I have owned various RC cars and trucks throughout the years so I have experience in the various brands and models that have been in the market. I recently bought a Slash for a friend´s 11 yr old son after researching the current line-up of 1/10 RTR trucks. This was his first high-performance RTR RC truck. He has been taking it to the local RC off-road track once or twice a week. He also runs it around the house when we can´t get to the track.
So here are my thoughts after the first couple of months.

Bullet-proof. It has performed flawlessly. Charge up the battery, turn it on, and GO! It is amazing that he can crash into a concrete wall at 20+ MPH, back it up, and keep on racing. (although this is not recommended) He has flipped it, crashed it, bashed it into other cars/trucks, and it just keeps on screaming for more. After over 10-12 trips to the track he has not had one major breakage.

2.4ghz... radio means no more worrying about other cars running the same channel. It is also much more responsive than the AM radios. This is a must for anyone running at a local track. The fact that a decent quality 2.4ghz radio is included with this truck makes it a real winner!

Motor performance is top-notch. This is one of the fastest and most efficient stock motors on a RTR 1/10 truck. It has plenty of power at the starting line and in the straight-a-ways yet it is easy to control in the tight corners. There is no need to upgrade until you want to get into more advanced racing.

Suspension performance is also great. Out-of-the-box, this thing is tuned to rock. Some people warned me about the Slash´s tendency to flip over sideways in the turns. I noticed this slightly on hard pavement but it has not been an issue on the clay track. The grip of the suspension and tires is much actually better than I would have expected from a stock RTR truck. I recommend leaving the stock settings until you run it and see what needs to be adjusted for your racing style. Minor adjustments in the ride height through the flexible suspension settings can make a big improvement. Just simply adding or removing the shock spacers is all you need to dial in the suspension for most of your needs.

Quick Tips: Read the Manual! Buy a couple extra 7-cell batteries. Buy a Peak battery charger to charge the batteries in 30-45 minutes. Let the motor and batteries cool down between runs. Clean the truck with compressed air after each day, or night, of running. Clean out the dust/dirt from the motor and under the plastic the slipper clutch cover after running in dusty conditions. Check for loose screws on the suspension, frame, and rear wheel hubs after every battery change or two. A quick visual check will keep you running and save you from replacing parts that will occasionally back-out on you. Eventually you might choose to use the temporary blue lock-tite on screws that continue to back-out but you don´t need to do it right away if you just check them periodically. This happens on any RC vehicle due to high-speeds and inevitable crashes.

Overall this truck has worked so well that I bought another one for myself. Now we both race at the track. Still no broken parts or mechanical failures! Way to go Traxxas! I give the Slash 5 stars for being an overall great value and solid, well-built RTR racing machine that has everything you need in the box! (Posted on 8/24/10)
