The P-51 Mustang is one of the most famous US fighters of WWII. The P-51B Mustang was the first Merlin-engine version and appeared in 1943. The Merlin-powered Mustangs were exactly what the Allied bombers in Europe desperately needed, and they became famous for their long range and potent high-altitude escort capable.

Awesome flying and great color scheme Review by Geneo

This is my 3rd VQ model that includes the P-39 and P-40. Plane takes off straight and true. Mine is electric with an NTM motor. Balance was perfect without any additional weight needed. Landings are easy with no tendency to nose over. All parts fit great. Plane looks awesome on a low fly by. A real value for a warbird. (Posted on 9/4/14)

This plane flys really well using the "Rimfire .80". I incorrectly mentioned the power 80. (Posted on 5/8/14)

I already have the VQ FW190 powered by OS 46 and have enjoyed it very much so I wasn't to apprehensive about the quality. The P-51 went together easily and is powered with a saito 72 and has mechanical retracts. It only needed 2 clicks of up trim on the maiden to fly straight and level, it required about 10-12 oz of tail weight to get the CG close it's still somewhat nose heavy. I set up the control surfaces per instructions as low rates and no issues there. The plane slows down quickly on approach so I need to keep power on. The only issue was the tail wheel wood bracket broke and I needed to re enforce that area no big problem other than I had to pack up before being ready. Over all a very nice looking model, construction is good and looks great in the air.

Flys really good on 5s setup. I hate you have to remove the wing to place your battery, wing tips need reinforcing. Overall excellent quality ARF, better than most. (Posted on 11/16/13)
great plane Review by rcfliersprintdriver43

I love this model. its not always the easiest to build but once it is built it flies great. the engine instal instructions arent the best just make sure you are centered for the prop shaft in the coweling and you will be fine no matter which way you mount the engine. ive mounted them straight up to the right and straight down they all work great. and make sure you set the plane up slightly nose heavy. there is no need for weight on tail. i actually ussualy end up putting the battery in front of the servos. this is one of my favorite fliers. you will definitely enjoy this model. I like to fly it. Review by Barnstormer

I've seen better packaging, the one I received required some repairs.

Very good flier but not for the novice. Requires very good rudder and elevator management on take off and landing.

Engine installation instructions not the best, I installed the engine with the cylinder vertical.
