Almost Ready to Flys (ARFs) are airplanes whose major components are factory-built in the box. The modeler must assemble the plane and install radio, motor (unless included) and other small projects. Generally, an ARF will require about 8-10 hours of finishing before the plane is ready to fly. In the hobby, this is one of the great joys as it allows greater personalization and greater understanding of the airplane.
